In 2007 the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market registered sales for 416 000 tons of vegetables.
In 2008 the Paris Wholesale Market registered a sales amount of 412 000 metric tons of vegetables.
In 2009 the Paris Wholesale Market registered a sales amount of 389 839 metric tons of vegetables.
In 2010 the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market registered a sales amount of 375 856 metric tons of fresh vegetables,
Over 11 000 tons of green beans marketed in 2006 only 1 700 tons were French produce and the import products reached a total amount of 9 300 tons. In 2007 only 1 700 tons of French green beans were marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market while the import products were marketed for a total amount of 9 300 tons. Green beans are mostly imported from Morocco, Kenya, Senegal, Madagascar and Egypt. France is the biggest importer of green beans. France and the UK import more than 80 per cent of the green beans exported to the European market. In 2008 only 1 500 metric tons of French produce were marketed on the market, whereas the imported green beans reached an amount of 9 500 metric tons. By end November 2009, 8 900 MT of imported produce and 1 300 MT of French produce were marketed. Novagrim is a fresh French bean importer. We import green beans from Egypt Kenya, Madagascar Morocco and Turkey.
In 2006, 5 800 tons of artichokes were marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market. 3 200 tons of this amount was represented by the French produce whereas the import artichokes reached 2 600 tons. In 2007, 3 700 tons of French artichoke produce were marketed against 2 400 tons of imported produce. France produces 60 000 tons of artichokes becoming, thus, the third biggest European artichoke producer. France’s European market share represents only 7% whereas Italy is the biggest producer with a market share of 55 %, followed by Spain (35%). France exports about 10% of the local produce. The « Bretagne » region in the north-west of France is the biggest production area representing about 80% of the total French produce. In 2008 the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market registered 6 000 MT of artichoke sales (3 500 MT of French and 2 500 MT of import produce).By end November the market registered 2 800 MT of French produce against 2 100 MT of imported artichokes). In 2006, 1 320 tons of French asparagus were marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market while the import produce asparagus reached 1 900 tons. In 2007, 1 200 tons of French asparagus and 2 000 tons of import produce were marketed. In 2008 the asparagus marketed at the Paris Wholesale Market reached an amount of 3 300 metric tons (1 200 metric tons of French produce and 2 100 metric tons of import products). The import products are mainly from Peru, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Hungary, Germany and Greece. With a production of 19 000 tons France is the fifth European producer behind Spain, Germany, Italy and Greece. By end November 2009 the market registered 950 MT French asparagus and 1 900 MT of imported produce. Novagrim is a fresh asparagus importer. Fresh asparagus is mostly imported from Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and Greece by road but also from Mexico and Peru by plane.
All through the year 2006 about 14 000 tons of peppers & Bell peppers were marketed at the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market. French produce represented only 1 200 tons whereas the import products reached 12 800 tons.
In 2007 only 1 350 tons of French pepper were marketed on the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market whereas the import produce reached a total of 12 200 tons.
In 2008 the Paris Wholesale Market registered a total sales of 14 000 metric tons of Bell peppers and by end November 2009 this amount reached 13 150 MT.
The Bell peppers are mostly imported from Holland, Belgium, Spain, Morocco and Israel.
Novagrim is a Bell pepper importer, especially from Turkey. Californian Wonder pepper is mainly imported from Belgium, Netherlands and Morocco. The red Capia peppers as well as the red hot chillie peppers are also among the pepper varieties that Novagrim imports since years. Among the other pepper varieties Novagim imports the Turkish conique peppers ( Hungarian or Macar) but also the Sivri peppers and the Dolma peppers. Among the Capia varieties we also import the green capia peppers and the green Charlie peppers.
All through the year 2006 about 17 000 tons of squash (Zucchini) were marketed at the Paris - Rungis Wholesale Market.
French produce represented 5 800 tons whereas the import products reached 11 200 tons.
In 2007, 6 000 tons of French squash (Zucchini) were marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market whereas the import produce reached a total of 11 100 tons.
In 2008, the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market registered a sales amount of 17 000 metric tons of zucchini.
The French courgette (summer squash) represented an amount of 5 900 metric tons against 11 100 metric tons of import produce (especially from Spain, Morocco and Italy).
By end November 2009 only 15 000 MT of zucchini were marketed here (5 700 MT of French produce and 9 300 MT of imported produce).

During the whole year 2006, 12 300 tons of cucumbers were marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market. Of this amount 7 500 tons were French produce whereas the imported cucumbers reached 1 800 tons. In 2007 the French produce marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market represented 6 800 tons while the import products reached 5 700 tons. In 2008 the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market registered a total sales of 12 300 metric tons of cucumbers and by end November 2009 this amount reached 11 500 MT (5 300 MT of French cucumbers and 6 200 MT of import produce).The French produce represented 5 900 metric tons against 6 400 metric tons of imported produce. Spain is the biggest cucumber producer with about 600 000 metric tons produced, followed by Holland with about 500 000 tons. Poland is the third biggest producer with 350 000 tons followed by Greece (170 000 tons) and France (150 000 tons).Novagrim is a cucumber importer (especially from Turkey). Cucumbers are mostly imported from Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Jordan.
France represents 18% of the European cauliflower production. France produces a lot of cauliflower in different varieties. In 2006, 6 000 metric tons of the French cauliflower produce were marketed at the Rungis Wholesale Market. During the same period only 700 tons were imported. In 2007 the French produce marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market reached only 5 800 tons whereas 900 tons were imported. During 2008, the Paris Wholesale Market registered a sales amount of 6 500 metric tons of cauliflowers (5 800 metric tons of French produce and 700 metric tons of import produce) and by end November 2009 the market sales represented 4 500 MT of French product against 500 MT import produce. France with a produce of 400 000 tons is the third biggest European producer behind Italy and Spain. France has a good cauliflower production but is still an importer of fresh cauliflower from Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Morocco, Germany, Italy and Germany.
France produces a large amount of cabbage. During the year 2006, 5 300 tons of the French produce were marketed in the Paris Wholesale Market. The same year, a total of 5 300 tons of cabbages were imported on the market. In 2007 the French produce marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market reached an amount of 5 100 tons against 6 500 tons of imported produce. In 2008 the market registered a sales amount for 11 300metric tons of cabbage ( 5 100 metric tons of French produce and 6 200 metric tons of import cabbages) & by end November 2009 this amount reached 10 500 MT ( 4 400 MT French & 6 100 MT of import produce ). France is the sixth biggest cabbage grower with a produce of 75 000 tons. The biggest producer is the UK, followed by Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal. France is also a n importer of fresh cabbage from Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Portugal.
