In 2006 about 36 000 tons of onions and 4 800 tons of garlic were marketed in the Paris - Rungis Wholesale Market.
In 2007, 33 300 tons of onions and 4 600 tons of garlic were marketed in the Paris-Rungis Wholesale Market.
In 2008, the Paris-Rungis Wholesale Market registered sales for 36 900 metric tons onion & garlic.
In 2009 the Paris-Rungis Wholesale Market registered sales for 33 608 metric tons onion & garlic.
In 2010 the Paris-Rungis Wholesale market registered sales for 36 171 MT of onion, shallot & garlic.

All through the year 2006 about 36 000 tons of onions were marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market. While the French produce reached 25 000 tons, only 11 000 tons were imported (Italy, Chile, Argentina, Egypt and USA). During 2007 the French produce marketed on the market reached 20 000 tons against 13 400 tons of imported produce. In 2008 the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market registered sales for 33 000 metric tons of onions and shallots and by end November 2009 a total of 27 400 MT were marketed here. France is the fourth biggest European onion producer with a total produce of about 320 000 tons. Spain is the biggest producer with a market share of 21%, followed by Holland (19%) and Poland (14%). France has a market share of 9%. Most popular French onions are the « Roscoff » and the « Cevennes » varieties. France exports about 55 000 tons of the local produce but also imports from Australia, New Zealand, India, Turkey and Egypt. In 2006 the total amount of garlic marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market was 4 800 tons. The French produce represented about 2 600 tons whereas 2 200 tons were imported products (China, Argentina, Italy, Egypt). In 2007 the French garlic marketed in the Paris Rungis Wholesale Market reached a total of 2 300 tons against 2 300 tons of imported produce (mostly from China, Argentina and Italy and Egypt). During the year 2008 The Paris Rungis Wholesale Market registered a sales of 3 900 metric tons of garlic of which 1 800 metric tons were import products. By end November 2009 the market registered sales for 1 700 MT of French garlic and 1 800 MT of imported garlic. France, with an annual produce of about 25 000 tons, is the biggest garlic producer in Europe but also imports garlic from China, Argentina, Turkey and Egypt. Argentinean garlic varieties are the most appreciated by the French consumers. Novagrim is fruit and vegetable importer specialized in Turkish and Egyptian garlic. Chinese garlic is marketed by importers and operators during special periods as a basic product; the most popular varieties being the French and Argentinean ones...As a fresh fruit and vegetable importer Novagrim has been importing garlic and shallot varieties from Turkey, Tunisia, Morocco and even Vietnam and China.
In 2010, France produced a total of 18 567 MT of garlic, slightly lower than in 2009 (19 227 MT).while all the other EU countries produced about 200 000 MT. France imported a total of 22 600 MT of garlic in 2011 which is slightly lower than in 2010 (24 033 MT). In 2011 the largest garlic suppliers of France have been: Spain (8 700 MT), Argentina (7 040 MT) and China (2 600 MT).
